Interactive Modeling using Surface Splines
نویسنده
چکیده
In this paper we introduce a direct manipulation framework to model surface splines Pe-ters, 1993]. The framework presents the designer with intuitive tools to control the surface , however, the designer does not have to know any details of how the surface is represented. The surface spline is a parametric representation that permits us to model objects of arbitrary topology. The representation is simple enough to formulate intuitive tools, to control and model the surface. Tools intuitive to designers, such that smooth or create creases on a surface, follow the characteristics that de-ne surface splines. We present some details of the creation of these tools.

Gravity acceleration at the sea surface derived from satellite altimetry data using harmonic splines
Gravity acceleration data have grand pursuit for marine applications. Due to environmental effects, marine gravity observations always hold a high noise level. In this paper, we propose an approach to produce marine gravity data using satellite altimetry, high-resolution geopotential models and harmonic splines. On the one hand, harmonic spline functions have great capability for local gravity ...

Implicit surfaces have received increased attention in the design and animation of 3D objects, since they posses some useful advantages over the traditional parametric surfaces. However, interactive design of such surfaces generally suffers from the relatively slow display speed and lack of efficient control facilities. This paper experiments the combination of the implicit surface technique an...
متن کاملFree-Form Modeling with Implicit Surface Patches
While it is possible to model a general closed surface of arbitrary genus as a single implicit surface patch, the geometry of such a global surface is di cult to specify, interactively control, and polygonize. The main di culties stem from the fact that implicit representations are iso-contours which generally have multiple real sheets, self{intersections and several other undesirable singulari...
متن کاملLocalized Editing of Catmull-Rom Splines
Catmull-Rom (C-R) splines offer many useful modeling properties, such as affine invariance, global smoothness, and local control. They are therefore of great interest to Computer Aided Design (CAD) users. C-R splines are easily evaluated and are a good choice for interactive applications because they interpolate their control points and therefore provide an intuitive way to represent and edit c...
متن کاملVirtual Clay Modeling Using Adaptive Distance Fields
This paper describes an approach for the parametrization and modeling of objects represented by adaptive distance fields (ADFs). ADFs support the construction of powerful solid modeling tools. They can represent surfaces of arbitrary and even changing topology, while providing a more intuitive user interface than control-point based structures such as B-splines. Using the octree structure, an a...
